| Acoustic tree examinationThe park was built under special safety conditions which started with the acoustic examination of each individual tree. The acoustic examination revealed the condition of the trees, including any signs of illnesses that would not make it possible to mount an obstacle item on to the tree or would not ensure the safe use of that obstacle. Â Â |
Measuring and planning the courseAfter the thorough examination a string is used to outline the course and then it is planned which obstacle elements will be mounted on which trees. The distance of the trees from each other and the age of the trees plays an important role in the planning process.
| |
| Mounting the obstacles After the planning the various obstacle elements are mounted on to the trees in a way that they should not be harmed by the human activities in any way (no cutting, no screwing into the wood), and also in a way that the obstacles can be removed at any time. So that the obstacles are stable several layers of padding is placed underneath them on the trees.
|
TestingOnce an obstacle element has been built, it gets checked thoroughly, the mounting is tested and it is connected to the previous obstacle element.

First useBefore visitors to Adventure Island start to use the obstacle course they will have to follow an induction course where they can learn the use of carabine-swivels and winches and where they can learn the recommended climbing techniques for the different elements of the course. The use of two tested self-securing carabine swivels and rock climbers’ cradles ensure the full safety of our visitors as they go along the course. The security of these items is enhanced by their weight-bearing capacity of 1,500 kilograms.
|
Signposts and support elementsEverywhere along the course visitors will find signposts before each element which indicates the name of the element, the level of difficulty, the recommended way of climbing and the type of tree that the element is mounted on. You can slide off the course before the end and if you encounter difficulties at any station of the course you can request assistance from the course supervisors.
